MEERA – AN INITIATIVE

Meera is one of a kind news portal and E-Newspaper with GENDER Lens, with the participation of Girls and Young Women, including Rural, Semi-Urban, People with Disability, and more as Citizen Journalists and not excluding Boys/Men and Urban also.

None must be on the margin, none must be left behind. Covering from grassroots to global, Meera aspires to mediate to bridge all gaps, all human-made divisions. Meera covers all issues, carries news – Hard and Soft, and gives space to all views, discussions, and social drives for education and engagement. Stories/Interviews from the ground and from Girls/Youth trained as Citizen Journalists make it unique in some way.

Meera – Half population, Full voice

With a tagline of ‘आधी आबादी, पूरी बात ’, it’s a web platform and a bi-lingual periodical for rural-small town youth-adolescent, especially women and girls, to express, engage and explore using a gender lens in the entire approach of content. This initiative also encourages citizens to observe their immediate environment, use instincts of innovation, and take initiatives to create change and contribute to stories that inspire.

This platform is driven by a group of like-minded people and a team mentored by those who have studied society and the interplay of gender issues deeply and have a scholarly understanding of change models to make this world equitable and sustainable. Grassroots and global connect is the scale we operate on and policies remain our special area of interest to comment on.

While highlighting women in every sphere of life, her struggles and achievements shall remain our concern as we need to address mindsets for her due space in a society that keeps her superior or inferior to none.

The web platform of Meera will also function as a news aggregator with the opportunity for small and rural journalists and communicators to post their stories and opinions.

Key values we shall nurture through the platform of Meera will get reflected consistently in our content: Gender lens, Inclusion, Accessibility, Diversity, Sustainability, Development, Positivity, Empathy, Scientific Temperament, Spirituality, Collaboration, Public Policy, Governance, Free Speech, Justice, Art and Culture, Heritage, Citizen Responsibility, Traditional Wisdom, Diversity, Plurality
