About us and Our Team
PEN Philosophy
The PEN works in the communication domain for issue-based constructive dialogue and discussions to nurture thoughts that are rooted in our culture but are in tandem with the pragmatism of the modern world. Informed, alert and engaged citizens are critical assets for a nation. In these times of information overload, propaganda, and fake news, we need informed citizens who are prepared well to deal with the global world using scientific knowledge and an analytical mind. Citizens can contribute better and grow better if they can express, engage, and explore the world outside and inside.
The world around us is a mix of good and bad, positive and negative, cold and warm, right and wrong; we also need to make the best choices based on knowledge so that we are not left irrelevant in a fast-changing world. Without becoming an ideological apparatus, we strive to nurture universal values, thoughts and appreciate freedom of expression enshrined in the constitution which doesn’t give extra powers or privileges to the news media. Media literacy is emerging as a specialized domain, where we dwell but with a larger purpose of inculcating human values and respect for nature, we shall contribute to global and national goals of development through the power of the PEN.
We also wish to promote very citizen journalism with more women voices and issues of rural India emerging from people who must be heard and empowered which is constructive and innovative rather than disruptive in outcome following the ideals of Vivekananda. There is a vast repository of knowledge in our villages, we need to go back to our roots and exchange ideas for uplifting each other. Pen serves the Human world using social science tools and the Animal world separately using scientific and clinical tools. By serving diverse communities and using different methods, we gather varied perspectives and design our communication, programs and strategies accordingly.

This initiative also encourages citizens to observe their immediate environment, use instincts of innovation, and take initiatives to create change and contribute to stories that inspire.

The web platform of Meera will also function as a news aggregator with the opportunity for small and rural journalists and communicators to post their stories and opinions.
Key values we shall nurture through the platform of Meera will get reflected consistently in our content: Gender lens, Inclusion, Accessibility, Diversity, Sustainability, Development, Positivity, Empathy, Scientific Temperament, Spirituality, Collaboration, Public Policy, Governance, Free Speech, Justice, Art and Culture, Heritage, Citizen Responsibility, Traditional Wisdom, Diversity, Plurality.
